Are you doing your behavior?
Seems like an easy question right? However sometimes when I ask myself I just come up with thousands of excuses like I have had a ton of meetings, have been out of the office, had to catch up on e-mail, and on and on and on but never really answer the simple question because it is NO. Behavior is something that is one of the easiest things in my business to do yet is often the hardest to carry out. And how do I feel after not doing the behavior – usually worse than how I would feel doing the actual behavior?? Kind of ironic huh? Everyone knows I was training for the mini marathon and by following my program – my behavior – I was able to accomplish my goal of finishing in less than 2 hours even though at times the behavior was difficult, cut into other things I wanted to do and in all honesty would have rather been doing something else. I often hesitated to get out of bed early to train but it was something I dedicated time to and put on my schedule though. I set aside time for it because it was important to me. Do I always do that for cold calls? What about networking or meeting with strategic referral partners? The behavior was not always fun yet the result and the way my attitude changed after doing the behavior made it worth it!
So now after my race is over I find myself somewhat addicted I must say to running – it is part of my routine. I just do it and ultimately enjoy it because it is so rewarding when I see the progress I have made. Now if only I could find that happy place with all my behaviors. I must not think of the pain associated with the actual activities but think of the achievements, sales and progress that will follow if I just do the behaviors!

The behaviors as a sales professional are plentiful. As an example currently I am thinking about who will be on my gratitude for Thanksgiving list. Making phone calls to those that I want to include in my life with a hand written greeting this fall.
Another example of a behavior is making outbound phone calls, I make them in the morning after a cup of coffee and sit on the porch with a smile on my face. Thanks to Karen and the staff at Lushin & Associates, I am aware of my strenghs as a Lady of Charity. Looking forward to a Devine interpretation on Tuesday, June 8th.
