Tea Party
November 1st, 2010
Think about the new “household” names and labels of The Obama years: Sarah Palin, Tea Party, Hockey Moms, Hope and Change just to name a few. I have the most interest in the Tea Party and how its origins are as “grass roots” as they get. Once again we will have a famous story where an idea on the back of a napkin materializes into greatness.
I know very little about the Tea Party except that it rose to power as a result of wayward taxation. I understand why the working class of America is sick-n-tired of being taxed. It seems like yesterday sales tax was 4% and today we have inched our way to almost 10. I look at my paycheck or year-end tax returns and I see that I could have financed a small third-world country. When do we stop the unlimited spending and legacy-debt creation that our children will have to pay?
Let me pretend to operate my business as the Federal Government operates. I have a sharp decline in business and therefore I run the risk of not paying my bills. First I borrow more money, go to my clients who have elected to stay, raise their prices and finally I drop the level of service so I don’t have to lay off people or alter business amenities that I enjoy. How long to do think that gravy train will last? Not too long and yet that is how our government works and functions. No wonder there is a tea party.
Our government is getting too big so tomorrow sip your tea as you cast a vote for a new future. Because we need Hope for a new Change!
