The Internal Pilot Light

With another year zipping by I found myself reflecting this past weekend on 2009.  One of the questions I asked myself was “why do I actually enjoy getting out of bed in the morning?” This question came about as I was talking with a close friend of mine who does not enjoy where he works.  After he left our house and the kids were in bed I started to wind down and think why I actually enjoy what I do. There are many reasons, but the number one reason was I like to help people. I know, sounds corny but when I thought about it, that was the truth.

I was a client before working with Lushin and I can vividly remember Paul Lushin saying the phrase “mission over commission.”  I understood what this meant but I didn’t FULLY get what he was saying.  It wasn’t until several years ago when it finally clicked, the more people I can help (mission) the better I will be compensated (commission).  So why not go out and help as many people as I can? As another year winds down I had to do a little self reflection to help re-light my pilot light of “desire” and remind myself why I do what I do.  Do you know what it takes to re-light your pilot light of desire?  Do you know what your “mission” is, the one that will help you pop out of bed in the morning and provide the living you want?  If the answer is yes, congrats.  If no, start to look inside yourself for the answer.  You don’t want to go into the winter months with no pilot light on your internal furnace.
